“Unprecedented model will reach the market in 2020”
Pointed out as one of Land Rover’s most daring raids in history, the launch of an urban appeal car equipped with 100% electric propulsion seems to have a great chance of getting off the ground. As reported this week by the British magazine Autocar, the much talked about model will not be a sedan, as previously thought, but rather a style-inspired SUV based on the lines of the Range Rover Velar. It will not have petrol or diesel engine option and will adopt the same aluminum platform as the Jaguar XJ.
Apparently, the idea of Land Rover is to have a model similar to the Audi A4 Allroad or Volvo V90, with appeal for the luxury segment. Called internally from “Road Rover”, the van will be equipped with two electric motors, four-wheel drive and will have autonomy to travel at least 480 kilometers. In practice, it will be the first fully electric vehicle of the brand and cousin of Jaguar I-Pace, with whom it will share several technologies. The release is slated for sometime in 2020 shortly before the debut of the new generations of RR Vogue and Sport.
