As the molten metal is forged in a Japanese sword, the fine lines of the Lexus LF-1 unlimited concept have the potential to shape the future of a luxury flagship Lexus crossover.
Lexus created the luxury crossover segment two decades ago with the global launch of the RX 300 in Detroit. It remains the best-selling luxury crossover even though almost 50 competitors enter this segment.
Now, the Lexus LF-1 Limitless concept introduces a new type of luxury vehicle: iconic cruises. Combining high performance and unlimited luxury, Lexus LF-1 Limitless is a showcase of technology, innovation and the latest evolution of Lexus design.
Unlimited in its potential and its possibilities, this concept is aimed at the different lifestyles of our customers. In the same way, the possibilities of transmission are unlimited. The LF-1 concept could be powered by fuel cells, hybrids, hybrid connectors, gasoline or even electric. By 2025, all Lexus models from around the world will be available as specific electrified models or as an electrified option.
The innovative spirit of LF-1 was created at CALTY Design Research in California. The design language is based on the simple yet elegant design concept called katana fos. This design visualization combines the organic forms of liquid metal with the sharp edges of a traditional Japanese sword. Imagine this transition: a smooth fluid mass and a solid and chiselled design were based on a fluid but aggressive LF-1 limit.
“This is our vision of a new type of light vehicle that incorporates the ability to cross without sacrificing performance and luxury sedans that offer the best of today,” said Kevin Hunter, President of Calty Design Research Inc .. “The concept of LF-1 Limitless incorporates technology while creating a strong emotional connection, which improves the human experience of the driver and passengers. ”
Start with the correct proportions. The relationship between the table and the exaggerated axis of the Lexus LF-1 provides a sporty profile that evokes the great classic cars instead of the cars. Combined with a cab firmly anchored to the chassis rear drive and badly rated 22-inch aggressive wheels under the curved wings, the LF-1 has an energy intensity position that gives it a performance look. The low roof and high height of the car also underscore the fact that it is a crossover designed for performance and practicality.
Like all current Lexus models, the screw grid in the LF-1 is an essential part of the overall design. For the LF-1, it went even further, with details that suggest the beginning of the pin shape in the rear of the vehicle and then continue. The grid itself has a three-dimensional design with colors developed internally by Calty. The crests that move away from the central emblem suggest that magnetism guides metal presentations. There is no chrome, since the LF-1 uses, on the contrary, the LED lighting around the grille that greets you.
“The Lexus and RX models have contributed to the worldwide popularity of the luxury SUV category. This new concept of transition represents a future characterized by a high dynamic capacity and usefulness, as well as a more interesting and emotional experience. expectations in the category, “said Yoshihiro Sawa, president of Lexus International.
In profile, the LF-1 has a clearly defined flow and the fender line extends from the roof to the lower line of the D. This contrasts with the much more complex surfaces that are below as a filter before passing wide and crumpled the door decorated softly and deeply. From here, the body is slowly rebuilt to wrap the rear wheel, which gives the LF-1 a bottle of coca reminiscent of classic muscles.
A split spoiler takes you to the back of the Lexus LF-1’s roof, but features interesting curves and details along every inch of the rear façade. The finely carved openings in each corner may resemble the terminals, but in reality they are ventilated allowing air to pass through the rear wheels. The shoulders on these wheels provide a sturdy support for the sculpted rear lights that go well beyond the metal parts. Above the lights is the huge expanse of glass that extends over the rear seats to offer an impressive panoramic view thanks to the spoiler that divides each side.
